Construction Management
Maple Leaf Place (formerly Souvenir City), is a tourist attraction and shop located on River Road, has been serving tourists from all over the world for almost 30 years with its array of keepsakes that are unique to the Canadian culture. This construction management project was completed in phases, to ensure minimal disruptions to the business, staff, and visitors as the facility remained fully operational during construction. The first phase of major renovations and updates began in 2017 with the complete redesign of their restaurant and included the addition of a new kiosk to the existing structure. NIACON stripped the entire 4,00 square foot of interior space and conducted numerous and extensive upgrades: an entirely new kitchen layout with corresponding equipment, furnished with all new one-of-a-kind custom interior finishes to the restaurant’s food court and seating area, constructed a ground-up new 270 square foot ice cream kiosk that exhibits a unique 40 foot long suspended inverted canoe roof feature that is supported by a custom-made totem pole that stand 35 feet in height. All new plumbing, HVAC equipment and distribution, and complete electrical upgrades, were part of the work including new communications and security improvements. The second phase of this project entailed a new building addition and site upgrades. To accommodate this expansion, two homes were demolished along with a section of the existing building. The addition incorporates a new chocolate station complete with a unique chocolate fountain, a maple syrup station with a section dedicated to bottling and packing the product to be sold to customers, and finally a fudge stations where all baked products are made in-house daily and served to visitors. A unique crystal glass tree was designed and constructed as a tourist attraction and is the centre piece of the new additions.
